The short version: the budget information you enter stays on your own device. A few optional features send limited information out, and only when you use them: the voice feature sends what you say to speech-processing services so it can be turned into text; Cross-Device Sync copies your budget file into a folder you pick, or into your own Google Drive if you choose Google Drive sync; and on iPhone and iPad, receipt scanning may send a store name and total to suggest a category, and a subscription sends Apple's purchase record to create your key.
Budget Blueprint is a budgeting app for Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android published by CMW Digital, registered in Oregon, USA. You can reach us here. This policy explains what information the app handles and where it goes.
Everything you enter to run your budget — income, bills, spending, savings, debts, transactions, notes, and goals — is stored locally on your own device. CMW Digital does not receive, collect, or store this information, and it is not sent to us or to anyone else during normal use of the app. You do not create an account, and no sign-in is required (the only exception is Google sign-in, if you choose Google Drive sync).
Budget Blueprint includes an optional voice-entry feature. When — and only when — you choose to use it, the app uses your device's microphone to capture what you say, and that audio is sent over the internet to be transcribed into text and interpreted into a budget entry. The microphone is accessed only while you are actively using the Speak feature. Because you speak your entries aloud, this audio and the resulting text may include details such as amounts, bill names, and payees.
Budget Blueprint can keep two or more of your devices in step. When — and only when — you turn Cross-Device Sync on, the app writes a copy of your budget file into a folder you choose, and reads your other devices' copies from that same folder. CMW Digital never receives that file and it does not pass through our servers. If the folder you choose is itself synced by another service, such as a cloud drive, that service's own terms apply to the copy stored there. Left off, no budget file is written anywhere outside the app's own storage.
If you choose Google Drive sync, the app asks you to sign in with Google and saves a locked (encrypted) copy of your budget file in a “Budget Blueprint Sync” folder in your own Google Drive, then reads your other devices' copies from it. The app can only see files it created itself — never the rest of your Drive. CMW Digital never receives the file, and it does not pass through our servers. You can disconnect at any time in the app or in your Google Account settings.
Budget Blueprint's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Budget Blueprint Free includes a 30-day trial of all Paid features. To keep the trial from restarting on reinstall, the app sends our server a scrambled, anonymous code made from your device. It can't be turned back into your device's ID, and it's used only to track the trial and its voice minutes. None of your budget data is ever sent.
If you don't use voice, sync, receipt category suggestions, an App Store or Google Play subscription, or the Free trial, no data leaves your device. The rest of the app works fully on your device without sending anything to us or to third parties.
When you use the Speak feature, your request passes through a CMW Digital service that relays it to the providers below and returns the result to your app. We use these providers only to make the voice feature work:
These providers process your voice data on our behalf to deliver the transcription and interpretation, subject to their own privacy policies. CMW Digital does not use your voice data for advertising, and does not sell it. We do not retain your spoken entries or transcripts beyond what is needed to process the request and return the result to your app.
The version of Budget Blueprint installed directly from our website may contact cmwdigitalmedia.com to check whether a newer version is available. This update check does not send your budget information or any personal data — it only retrieves the current version number. The Microsoft Store edition does not perform this check; it receives updates through the Microsoft Store.
This policy is mostly about the app, but our website is separate, and it works the way most websites do.
Because your budget data lives on your device, you control it directly — you can edit or remove it in the app at any time, and uninstalling the app removes the data stored on that device. If you would prefer that nothing you say leaves your device, simply don't use the Speak feature, and if you would prefer that nothing be written outside the app, leave Cross-Device Sync turned off; every other part of the app remains fully available.
Budget Blueprint is intended for a general adult audience for personal budgeting. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and revise the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
